Photography by Wendy May

Who am I?  I'm a crazy dog lady and a lover of all creatures great and small.  I am someone who appreciates the smallest of details, and someone who sees beauty everywhere.  I am an insufferable optimist.  I believe in the power of love to bring us together, to help us to overcome, and to heal.

Where do I come from?  I have been training dogs for many years and teaching classes to help others train their own.  I've been a pet parent and pet sitter to many species and am comfortable with the furry, the scaly, the finned, the fanged, the large, and the small.  I have always taken pictures, but was frustrated that they always seemed to simply document a situation.  I couldn't figure out why I was unable to translate the richness that I saw into a photograph.  Some years later, I have more knowledge and better equipment, and I continue to learn something new everyday about how to translate the world into a photograph.

My goal, always, is to capture not just the outward beauty, but the personality of my subjects.  The true beauty that lies just beneath the surface.  I try to capture laughter (yes...animals laugh!), and joy, and love, and silliness, and contentment...all the stuff that good life is made of.  If, when we are finished, you look at your photos and catch your breath just a little, my mission has been accomplished.
